The year started on a beautiful note with the partnership between LIVA and Times of India, as we became the Title Sponsor of the 8th edition of the LIVA Miss Diva 2020 pageant.
Here's a lookback at our Divas’ wonderful journey from their hometowns to the world stage.

City events

The city events at Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi and Jaipur saw the Divas dressed in gorgeous outfits, designed by Gabriella Demetriades and many other best designers in the industry.

City tour winners

Malashya Kashyap was presented with the LIVA Miss Body Beautiful title at the Mumbai event and Rushali Yadav became the LIVA Top Model at the Delhi event.

Divas visit the Birla Cellulose Plant

To gain understanding about the process of making fabrics, some of the LIVA Miss Diva 2020 finalists visited the Birla Cellulose Plant in Kharach on 18th January, 2020.

Brand Partner Store Visit

The divas had a day out trying out different LIVA looks at various brand partners stores - Pantaloons, Allen Solly, Central Store and Aurelia Womenswear.


The star-studded finale this year had an equally star-studded judges panel with Mentor Lara Dutta – Miss Universe 2000, Anntonia Porsild – Miss Supranational 2019, Asha Bhat- Miss Supranational 2014, Designer – Shivan Bhatiya, Designer – Narresh Kukreja, Designer – Nikhil Mehra, Designer – Gavin Miguel, Actor Anil Kapoor and Actor Aditya Roy Kapur.

The LIVA Miss Diva 2020 finalists looked gorgeous in collections designed by Shivan and Narresh and Gavin Miguel. The stunning winners this year are - Adline Castelino, Mangalore: LIVA Miss Diva Universe 2020 Aavriti Choudhary, Jabalpur: LIVA Miss Diva Supranational 2020 Neha Jaiswal, Pune: LIVA Miss Diva 2020 Runner-up Adline and Aavriti will go on to represent India at the Miss Universe and Miss Supranational pageants respectively.

Launch Of The Birla Cellulose Sustainability Report

We also launched the first-ever Birla Cellulose Sustainability Report 2019 at BSE India detailing the intrinsic sustainability attributes of our cellulosic fibres, our efforts towards responsible manufacturing, our sustainability performance in the year and our contribution towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The road to Decarbonisation

Dilip Gaur, MD Grasim Industries Limited, Pulp & Fibre in The Economic Times Blog Responsible Future by Namrata Rana and Utkarsh Majmudar spoke about the road to decarbonisation and our sustainability initiatives towards achieving carbon neutrality.

He said "We have a vision to be the global leader in sustainability business practices in the viscose industry. Our philosophy is that a piecemeal approach will not do! We need an end to end approach, which is why we have created a 5-pillar strategy that touches the entire viscose value chain. This consists of sourcing, manufacturing, products, partnerships and social responsibility”.

Water Conclave

Mukul Agrawal, Head Sustainability, Grasim Industries – Pulp & Fibre, spoke at the 5th edition of India Industry Water Conclave organized by FICCI and Ministry of Jal Shakti, of our low water consumption and efforts beyond regulatory norms towards stronger EU standards.

Fashion for Good

Birla Cellulose collaborated with Fashion for Good on mentoring of innovators at Focus Week, for innovations in alternate material, circulating, waste recycling, wastewater reuse, traceability etc. for the sustainability of textile value chain.


Launch of a Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant in Nagda

In a bid to provide clean and safe drinking water to the villagers of Parmar khedi in Nagda, Madhya Pradesh, Grasim Industries has constructed a state-of-the-art modern Reverse Osmosis (RO) plant at a cost of Rs 20 lacs with a capacity to process 1500 liters of drinking water in one hour.

Today, the plant meets daily water requirements of the entire city and kachrod along with railways through 30 billion litres storage capacity built by Grasim.

Gold Trophy at the SRTEPC Export Awards

Grasim Industries Limited has won the prestigious Gold Trophy for Best Export Performance for the year 2018-2019 at the SRTEPC Export Awards .The award was presented by Hon'ble Union Minister of Textiles and Women & Child Development, Smt. Smriti Irani. The Council every year grants awards to its member exporters for their excellence in exports of the products falling under the purview of the Council.

LIVA Studio and TRADC launch SS21 trends

The LIVA design team along with TRADC launched the Spring Summer 2021 womenswear fabric trends, innovations and focus. Partner presentations for the launch, were held across LAPF Studios in Noida and Jaipur.


LIVA introduced the SS21 collection and trends across categories like Stoles, Sarees, Kurtis and Leggings at the 70th National Garment Fair by The Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI) with our esteemed partners showcasing their collections made with Liva fabrics.
