There is something thoroughly delightful about the thought of the oncoming spring-summer season. No doubt it is the proposal of a warm breeze in our hair and the sight of trees in full bloom, but it is also largely the idea of unraveling the spring-summer 2020 trends and starting our fashion journeys anew.
A concept we have our heart set on this season is the Urban Vibes, which is a cohesive fusion of the young millennial fashion sense, a burst of off-beat hues, and new-age functional fabrics that walk the thin line between classic and modern.
So, grab some popcorn, prop your feet up and pay attention while we give you a low-down of the fashion forecast for Spring Summer 2020!
Playful Summer Prints
When we think of summers, we think of printed and lightweight ensembles. Whether they are trending summer dresses or the shorts and t-shirt duo, prints are big this season. While the florals are too been-there-done-that, our money is on the abstract prints that make for an interesting look. “Colourful and haphazardly drawn splashes of paint (look great) on everything from jackets to blouses and pants,” says Nelson Jaffery, Head of Design, LIVA.
If it is casual day-wear then find these prints in fabrics like polyester, linen, and viscose, with viscose being the best fabric for the summer heat. And for other aspects of our day like workouts, opt for eclectic geometric prints in your activewear with fabrics like modal and spandex to make a statement even while you deadlift at the gym.
Ranking high on the Spring-Summer 2020 print trends are Stripes. Whether they are closely placed in slim lines or wide apart, the trick lays in color-blocking them. With Urban Vibes being all about being bold and unapologetic, if there ever was a time to sport bright hues in a single ensemble then it is now! Jaffery suggests, “Fabrics like viscose and modal which are easy to clean and remain wrinkle free will be the preferred choices this season.” The stripes are a summer classic and look exquisite in such breathable and move-easy fabrics.
With a horde of celebrities sporting athleisure trends this spring-summer, we are swooning over these styles and the scuba fabric is a great option for functionality in our active-wear. This one has a fantastic stretch which allows us to be extremely comfortable and stylish at the same time. This figure-enhancing fabric is seen in blends of polyester and lycra. If you are looking to try this trend, then we suggest to opt for scuba in your work-out wear with prints like stripes or even solid hues. It is a hit in the Spring-Summer 2020 fashion trends, either way.
The Monochrome Maven
“What is the reigning hue among the spring-summer 2020 colors?”. If you wondered, then here is a stark answer: the Monochrome. While pop shades like high-risk red, amber glow, and vibrant greens are a big mood this summer, nothing does the trick like a crisp head-to-toe monochrome look. The colour, white, has so much to offer especially when the drama is brought in with textures like spaced-out dobby and self jacquards. This trend can be effortlessly carried out in light-weight summer shirtings and casual dresses in fabric like jerseys or viscose. Monochrome also makes for a splendid athleisure ensemble with some second-skin jersey tops that provide just the right amount of chic and cool while the temperature soars this season.
So, those were our top five summer trends in women’s clothing that has been researched, fool-proofed, and approved by us. Now, all that is left for you to do is incorporate these in the right measure and set the streets ablaze this spring-summer. We will be sure to carry our sunglasses if you pass us by. Happy strutting!
