Royal blue is a beautifully evocative colour.

Ladies are especially partial to it because of how boldly it highlights their feminine silhouettes, giving off a vibe of royalty, sophistication and style, all mixed in one. In fact, the colour blue looks like it is Hollywood’s favourite, with numerous stars being photographed in it.

Be it cornflower blue, to electric blue, cobaly or powder blue – there’s not a single diva who hasn’t been adorned in at least one of those colours. Blake Lively, Emma Roberts, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus, Olivia Wilde, and Dianna Agron have all been photographed in blue. Royal blue has been one colour with which Hollywood divas have a constant love affair with, and this makes it a serious colour to consider this season.

Reese Witherspoon

The actress looked like she’d stepped out of the 40s in the Louis Vuitton Klein blue silk faille strapless corset gown that she so majestically wore. Her bustier had a black bow trim on it and her designer completed her look with a short (but gorgeous) train. The actress’ hair was in loose curls, her makeup was kept to the bare minimum and she wore very little Louis Vuitton jewelry. Needless to say, she oozed sophistication and class in her royal blue ensemble.

Blake Lively

This young fashionista never ceases to amaze with her bold and daring choices. Lively was spotted at Lady Gaga's Workshop at Barneys New York in NYC. Here we can see her covered head to toe in a royal blue Elie Saab pant-suit. Her jacket/top had a daringly low cut, while the lace details on her shoulders kept her outfit from being too plain. The blond beauty topped off her appearance with black Louboutin cap-toe pumps. She too kept her jewelry to a bare minimum - her statement ring was all that she wore.

Amy Adams

The gorgeous actress was photographed at a red carpet of an awards function, and we must say she simply rocked the vintage chic look with her retro-inspired updo. The actress carried off an Antonio Berardi gown, faux bob, red lips and silver Jimmy Choo platforms. That geometrical design near the shoulder gave her gown an interesting silhouette for sure. Old Hollywood glamour sure seems to be everybody’s favourite when it comes to the colour royal blue!

Jessica Chastain

The curvaceous beauty was spotted at the red carpet screening of Argentine dark comedy Relatos Salvajes during the 67^th Cannes Film Festival in Cannes.

She stunned in a floor-length royal blue strapless gown, which featured a thigh high slit visible only when she walked.  Her diagonal neckline was an interesting twist on her gown, and she topped off her dress with matching blue heels, red lipstick and dangling diamond shaped earrings. Needless to say, Chastain rocked old-school glam in that ensemble, and the blue beautifully complemented her hair.
